I have just purchased heliosuk's new soprano, and just wanted to write a few words on what i thought of it,
first off i want to say how brilliant freindly and quick the service was, i ordered the instrument and in just over a week it arrived with great delight!
well onto the sop, i first stumbled over the website whilst looking for a tuba for my girlfriend and saw the tab "new sop" so i had a look, wow! it looked fantastic but as we all know looks can be diseaving! and when i saw the price i can honestly say i got a bit put off as it was so cheap! but i purchased it thinking i can always send it back,
but i won't be doing that, it really is a fantastic instrument, it plays so cleanly and has a nice cornet sound rather than that typical sop harshness and not a mistake in the build in sight, before i got this i played a shilke although it was lovely sop to play always struggled to go above a top A with much power, not any more! the new sop has a brilliant top range and can now go above the stave with much more power and conviction! the tuning is good too, no more playing A's on 2\3 and top D's on 1\2 valves. all in all i am over the moon with the purchase and having the cerial number "001" makes it all that little bit more special! i really would advise any sop player new or old to give this a go, you won't be dissapointed!!!

I Have just purchased a Helios Superb Euphonium and can honestly say that the name describes the instrument perfectly.
With a considerable purchase like this it is sensible to be a little wary.
However, The service I received from Chris Johnston and his wife was very efficient and friendly.
They kept me informed and up to date with the progress of the sale from ordering to delivery.
I have played Euphonium for well over 40 years and recently EEb Courtois Tuba in 2nd, 1st and Championship section bands using many instruments from the wonderful old Solbron Boosey Euph, Bessons, Courtois (not impressed) and later Sovereigns.
The Helios Superb is visually a very attractive instrument with a copper lead tube, brass main body and silver slides.
I have examined the construction of the pipe joins and have found that it is beautifully put together.
The weight and size are both good, slides fit well and move easily, valve construction and action is excellent.
A lot of thought seems to have gone into this instrument, but does it blow well?
An easy blow throughout the range with a warm tone and good intonation,
it can handle the quietest of ppp and also plenty of "Wellie" if need be.
The compensation works well to keep everything under control tuning wise.
What a terrific price for a quality NEW instrument.
Thanks, I should have purchased one a lot earlier.

Premier Baritone Bb
The instrument build quality is generally very good The finish of the instrument is also good
The tuning slide fit is very good
(the second valve slide on the Sovereign I use has to be held in with an elastic band to stop it falling out while playing)
The instrument produces a nice round sound,
not as centred as the Sovereign I'm used to but seems to have more harmonics making it richer.
This may have something to do with the rose brass lead pipe.
The instrument is very responsive and 'speaks' easily.
It is easier to achieve fff than with the Sovereign, I haven't tried ppp playing yet.
The valve action is very good, even after 6 hours of carolling in cold weather, the valves remained very fast.
The three water valves are a boom,
especially when playing in cold weather and you get condensation by the pint.
The case is well padded and practical with the pocket on the side for music.
In summary, I like the sound it makes and the ease with which it plays, especially in the lower registers.
I'm particularly impressed with the valve action, I can articulate the fast passages so much better with this instrument
I prefer the sound of the Helios to that of the Sovereign I have been using.

Flugel Horn
I'm very impressed by the quality and finish of the instrument.
The case is a winner, too,
the whole thing being light and convenient to carry.
The tone is good, and the valve action is very smooth and
certainly up to anything that my technique could ask of it.
So I'm very pleased with it and would highly recommend .

The HeliosUK Eb Tenor Horn
Received with thanks.
A good tenor horn and thanks for personal service.
Just to say that I am well pleased with the Helios Tenor Horn,
I have played several makes of horns and so far I
have found this the best.
I find it easy to blow and produces a good sound in
all registers and well in tune.
I find it a good investment for a very low cost.
You can certainly use my name in any advertisment,
I play Solo Horn with Enfield Band and 1st Horn with Potters Bar Band,
also play 1st Horn with EPB Brass,a 3rd section contesting band.
I used to play with the world famous Wingates Band for seven years,
was with them when they won the Champion Band
of Great Britain at the Royal Albert Hall in 1971.
Since moving south,I have played with St Albans,Hemel Hempstead,
Luton and Hendon Bands.I do enjoy my
banding and I am pleased that I have now got an excellent horn to play on.
Yours sincerely,

The HeliosUK Premier Cornet.
Very impressed with the cornet,
it blows very well through all registers
with good intonation and a nice full cornet sound.
Im particularly impressed with the valves,
very smooth,quality.
I have owned andplayed the xeno, the maestro and the
prestige and it compares favourably with all three.
I currently play a Monette 900 series cornet
but would certainly give the premier first choice if i played in a brass band again.

I found the Cornet to be very good,
it blew well with no problems,
the valves worked very well once the shipping oil was cleaned from them and
I would think they would improve once bedded in.
On the whole I was very impressed with it,
including the standard of build.
I thought as is it is less to buy than the Yamaha's etc. this would be shown in the
build particularly in the weight.
I was surprised to find that the cornet had a good solid feel
and this was reflected by the sound it produced.
It had a bright sound but still a Cornet sound.
It certainly seemed that it was good value for money in comparison to others on the market.
